5 Things To Do Outside This Weekend: Burgers, Music, Boats and More

CHICAGO — It's Friday and the SUN IS SHINING. Let's make this weekend count. Here are five things to do outside.

1. Tour Edgewater Glen’s Gardens: With roots reaching back to 1973, this walking tour of Edgewater’s many beautiful gardens will gets a big, green thumbs up. From 12-5 p.m., walk the 1200 and 1300 blocks between Granville and Norwood with neighbors and those who enjoy local flora. $5.

2. Have a Tiki Party Downtown: Drink Mai Tai’s and hop on a booze cruise at Island Party Hut on the Chicago Riverwalk. Island Party Hut, a pop-up tiki bar just east of Columbus Drive, serves rum-based island drinks and casual fare. The bar’s sister company docks party boats on-site too. Open 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekends. Located at 355 E. Riverwalk South.

3. Watch A Burger Contest While Eating A Burger: Rockit Burger Bar will pit its double cheeseburger against a dozen contenders in defense of its 2014 "Critics Choice" title at Roscoe Village Burger Fest this weekend. Hot Doug himself is one of the judges. Belmont and Damen avenues, 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, $10 suggested donation.

4. Hang Out With 60,000 Pals: West Fest kicks off this weekend with brews, food and live music from Dead Moon, The Murder City Devils and more. There will also be kid-friendly areas, a "pet wash" and art for sale. Along Chicago Avenue between Wood Street to the east and Damen Avenue to the west, noon-10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, $5 suggested donation.

5. Englewood, Get Outside: There are a slew of events on the South Side this weekend, including the Englewood Community Fair, which features games, music, free health screenings and more at Vincenne's Senior Center, 7326 S. Yale Ave. from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday. Also on Saturday, RAGE is bringing free food, music and activities to Ogden Park, 6500 S. Racine, from 3 - 8 p.m. as part of So Fresh Saturday.
