WEST LOOP — The 2014 remake "Annie" will be shown under the nighttime sky in the West Loop Tuesday night.

The movie, starring Jamie Foxx, Cameron Diaz and others, will kick off at about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Skinner Park, 1331 W. Monroe St. Before the movie, at 6 p.m., Mike Dangeroux Band will cover rock and blues hits in a free concert at the park.

In "Annie," young actress Quvenzhané Wallis stars as Annie Bennett, a 10-year-old foster kid who lives with her mean foster mom before her life changes when business tycoon and New York mayoral candidate Will Stacks makes a thinly-veiled campaign move and takes her in, according to the movie's description.

The 2014 musical is a remake of Columbia's 1982 theatrical film and Disney's 1999 made-for-TV movie. The movie was panned by many critics and the Chicago Tribune gave it 1½ stars, but the film was a commercial success in theaters.

"Annie" is rated PG and runs 118 minutes. The movie screening is free and open to the public.
