Teen Dead, Five Wounded Since Monday

CHICAGO — Shootings since Monday morning have left a teen dead and five people wounded across the city, police said.

In the fatal shooting, which occured around 5:30 p.m., a 16-year-old boy was fatally shot and a 17-year-old boy was seriously wounded in South Shore.

The most recent shooting occurred in Humboldt Park around 10:50 p.m. and hospitalized a 24-year-old man.

• Around 9:55 p.m., a 35-year-old man was shot in his shoulder in the 5200 block of West Van Buren Street in Austin. The man was arguing with a man when another man shot him, said Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, Pacheco said.

• An hour earlier, a 16-year-old boy was shot in his left knee while standing with a group of guys in the 500 block of East Marquette Road in Washington Park. The shooting occurred around 8:55 p.m. when two men walked up to the group and opened fire, Pacheco said.

The teen was taken to Comer Children's Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, Pacheco said.

• In South Shore, around 7:30 p.m., two men were shot in the 7900 block of South Bennett Avenue when a man emerged from an alley firing shots striking them both in their backs. A 23-year-old man was taken to Christ Hospital in good condition and a 25-year-old man was taken to Jackson Park Hospital in good condition, Pacheco said.

No one is in custody for the shootings.
