PILSEN — Beloved Pilsen restaurant Nightwood is closing, owners announced Friday.

In a statement, the restaurant's partners announced that Nightwood's last day in business will be July 11. The restaurant entertained diners at 21st and Halsted streets for six years.

"At this time we’d like to thank everyone who has helped build Nightwood into the great restaurant it is. We’re grateful for the opportunity to have shared the fruits of our work with all of you," chef Jason Hammel and partners Matt Eisler and Kevin Heisner wrote in a statement.

Hammel said it's time for the three to commit their talents elsewhere and "introduce a larger Chicago project in the coming months," according to Eater. There are no immediate plans for the space, but the group said it "anticipates possibilities for the future."

Nightwood was named after a "mysterious and bizarre changeling of a novel, with the thinking that this space could develop and evolve as it grew," Hammel wrote on Facebook. "While we announce the last chapter today, we anticipate the possibility of a new plot line in the future."

Until closing, Nightwood will be open for dinner Monday through Saturday and brunch on Sunday.
