CHICAGO — Charges are pending against a 20-year-old man and two teens after they stole a car and led police on a chase through Pilsen before crashing into a squad car just before midnight, police said.

Around 11:50 p.m., officers spotted the group stealing a car in the 700 block of West 21st Street. When the thieves saw the officers they drove away in the car, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman.

When they got to the intersection of Cermak Road and Laflin Street they crashed into a police car and then a pole, Estrada said.

The trio were taken to an area hospital and treated for minor injuries. Charges are pending against them, Estrada said.

One of the police officers was also taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Estrada said.
