CHICAGO — Three people were wounded in shootings on the South and West Side Sunday afternoon, police said.

Most recently, two men were seriously wounded in a shooting in Auburn Gresham. Around noon, the men, 23 and 21, were sitting in the 900 block of West 87th Street when two men walked up and one opened fire, said Officer Thomas Sweeney, a Chicago Police spokesman.

The 23-year-old was shot in his back and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in serious condition. The 21-year-old was shot in neck and taken to John H. Stroger Hospital in serious condition, Sweeney said.

In Garfield Park at 11:11 a.m., a 29-year-old was walking in the 3500 block of West Van Buren Street when he heard shots and felt pain, Sweeney said.

The man was shot in his leg, and drove himself to Mount Sinai Hospital where his condition had stabilized, Sweeney said.

Since Friday night, five people have been shot dead and at least 31 people have been wounded in violence, police said.
