LITTLE VILLAGE — A 27-year-old man was shot dead in Little Village Friday evening, police said.

Around 9:54 p.m. police responded to reports of gunshots on the 2300 block of South Washtenaw Avenue. Chicago police spokeswoman Officer Stacey Cooper said. There they found Juan Ugalde laying unresponsive on the sidewalk, officials said.

Ugalde, of 2800 block of West 21st Street, was shot in the side of his face and pronounced dead on the scene, according to officials.

According to the Tribune, witnesses heard a series of gunshots and saw one car rear-end another car in the street. Tribune reporter Alexandra Chachkevitch said there was a silver SUV with a broken bumper and headlight at the scene, which had been the site of numerous other shootings in the past year, she wrote.

No one is in custody for the shooting, Cooper said.

Police said the shooting was gang-related.
