Meeting on Controversial Apartment Tower Plans Near Bartelme Park Wednesday

By Stephanie Lulay | June 3, 2015 5:52am

WEST LOOP — Developers will meet with the community Wednesday night to pitch their controversial plans for a site at 111 S. Peoria St.

Wicker Park-based LG Development planned to develop a 13-story apartment building at 111 S. Peoria St. on a site that now houses a parking lot, according to renderings released to neighborhood groups in October.

The meeting to discuss the latest project plans will kick off at 6 p.m. at Merit School of Music, 38 S. Peoria St.

It is possible that the developer's plans for the site have changed significantly since the fall. In October, the developer planned a building that would house 205 apartments.

Those plans called for a mix of studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments that ranged from about 400 square feet to 1,230 square feet. The plans also included 144 parking spots.

A group of West Loop neighbors, including the West Loop Residents Association and the Neighbors of the West Loop, have previously said they will fight the project.
