20-Year-Old Man Killed in University Village Shooting Identified

CHICAGO — A man was fatally shot in University Village early Saturday, police said.

He was identified as Darius Lee, of the 3400 block of West Hummingbird Court in Matteson, by the Cook County Medical Examiner's office Tuesday.

Around 2:10 a.m., officers responded to calls of shots fired in the 1000 block of West 14th Street, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman.

When officers arrived they found Lee unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds to his body. He was taken to John H. Stroger Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, Estrada said.

According to the medical examiner's office, Lee was pronounced dead at 2:51 a.m.

He died of multiple gunshot wounds to his body, and his death is being ruled a homicide, the medical examiner's office said.
