Boba and Bao Shop Opening on Fullerton Near DePaul Campus

By Paul Biasco | March 31, 2015 5:31am

LINCOLN PARK — The company behind Forever Yogurt is converting one of its Lincoln Park shops into a bubble tea and Asian steamed bun shop.

The city's second Bee & Tea is set to open Friday near the DePaul University campus at 818 W. Fullerton Ave.

The shop will continue to sell self-serve frozen yogurt, but will offer flavors with an Asian twist such as red bean, Thai iced tea, taro as well as a few Forever Yogurt classics.

Bee & Tea will also be serving custom boba tea and smoothies as well as bao, sandwiches, salads, wings, soup and Asian snacks.

The bao flavors include Japanese curry chicken, hoisin pork and miso steak.

Bee & Tea's menu allows costumers to customize their boba teas.

Customers first chose either an iced or hot version, then chose a base ranging from Taiwanese black tea, jasmine green tea or taro milk, among others, then chose a sweetness and finally additional flavors and toppings like fruits and jellies.

The city's first Bee & Tea opened in Wicker Park in July in a move to try to bring bubble tea into the mainstream, according to Steve Wong, director of development for Forever Brands, which owns Forever Yogurt, Bee & Tea and Falafill.
