MEDICAL DISTRICT — University of Illinois at Chicago Police are warning motorists after a carjacking in the Medical District Wednesday evening.

About 5:10 p.m. Wednesday, a driver was carjacked in UIC's parking lot L at 1818 W. Taylor St. The victim, who is not a UIC student or employee, was sitting in the vehicle when someone walked up, implied they had a gun and ordered the driver out of the car, UIC Police said.

The carjacker took the car and the driver's wallet and drove off westbound on Taylor Street.

The stolen vehicle is a 2002 silver Nissan Altima with Illinois license plates reading E283449.

Police did not know if the carjacker was a man or woman, UIC Police said.

The Chicago Police Department is leading the investigation. Anyone with information on the crime or stolen car is asked to call 311.
