WEST LOOP — The West Central Association will host a networking event at Carmichael's Steakhouse this week before the longtime restaurant closes for good.

The WCA will host the West Wednesdays networking event from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Carmichael's, 1052 W. Monroe St.

Tickets are $15 for members and $25 for non-members. Attendees can register online.

Tickets include hors d'oeuvres and a drink ticket. Space is limited.

Carmichael's will close this Friday after 18 years in business.

The building is owned by Michigan Avenue Real Estate Group, a firm that plans to build 131 rental units at the site. But in November, the City Council passed an ordinance — introduced by Ald. Danny Solis (25th) to change the zoning of the block — effectively blocking the plan.

Items used in the restaurant — including the fixtures, grills, booths and "everything but the walls" — will be sold at an auction on March 25 by Bob King Auctions.
