A SAIC spokeswoman declined to address West's remarks Monday morning, saying the college will announce its honorary degree recipients later this week. The Loop school's commencement ceremony will be held May 11.

It's another accolade this year for the enigmatic West, who also recently received the Visionary Award from BETThe son of an English professor, West attended both the American Academy of Art and Chicago State University, but didn't graduate. His 2004 debut album was titled "The College Dropout," and he is expected to release a new album soon.

To commemorate West's new accreditation, here are some other nuggets of wisdom West dropped during the interview:

"I’ve grown, I went to the gym, like Michael Jordan when he was winning championships."

"Healthy competition is better than rivalry. Rivalry becomes a cancer, like termites in your house."

"Racism is a dated concept. It’s a silly concept that people try to touch on to either separate, to alienate, to pinpoint anything, it’s stupid. It’s like a bouncing ball in a room with two cats, or something … And the ball has no point other than it bounces. That’s racism."

• "It feels like everything we do in life, we’re trying to get that moment back."

• "There should be an award show for the Nobel Peace Prize."
