CHICAGO — A woman was taken into custody in connection with a domestic-related death of an infant in Little Village Monday, police said.

The infant was 9 months old and had her throat cut with a circular saw, various news reports said.

At 9:36 a.m., police responded to a 911 call in the 2800 block of South Avers Avenue, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago police spokesman.

The 9-month-old girl was found in the residence with visible trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene, Estrada said.

A 52-year-old woman was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital with self-inflicted wounds, but her condition had stabilized, Estrada said.

The Tribune reported the woman, a relative cut the infant's throat because the child wouldn't stop crying.
