It's Not Just the Mayor's Race: 19 Aldermanic Battles Headed for Runoffs

CHICAGO — The mayoral race is headed for a runoff on April 7, and so are 19 aldermanic ward races.

A runoff occurs when no candidate earns more than 50 percent of the votes. The two candidates with the most votes in each race will be on the ballot in April.

Here are the wards with confirmed or apparent runoffs:

2nd Ward between Alyx Pattison, Brian Hopkins

7th Ward between Natashia Holmes, likely Gregory Mitchell

10th Ward between John Pope, Susan Sadlowski Garza

11th Ward between John Kozlar, Patrick Daley Thompson

15th Ward between Raymond Lopez, Rafael Yanez

16th Ward between Toni Foulkes, Stephanie Coleman

18th Ward between Derrick Curtis, Lona Lane

20th Ward between Kevin Bailey, Willie Cochran

21st Ward between Howard B. Brookins, Jr., likely Marvin McNeil

24th Ward between Vetress Boyce, Michael Scott, Jr.

29th Ward between Deborah Graham, Chris Taliaferro

31st Ward between Milagros Santiago, Ray Suarez

33rd Ward between Deb Mell, Tim Meegan

36th Ward between Omar Aquino, Gilbert Villegas

37th Ward between Emma Mitts, Tara Stamps

41st Ward likely between Mary O'Connor, Anthony Napolitano
