BUCKTOWN — A new bar is coming to Bucktown, just east of Milwaukee and Western avenues and about a block north of the Bloomingdale Trail.

A $156,600 building permit was issued last Friday for a project at 1910 N. Milwaukee Ave., which entails an interior build out for a new 2,088-square-foot bar to be designed by architect Jeremiah Johnson.

The tiny one-story industrial building was sold for $315,000 in June to a venture backed by David Halpern, according to county records.

Halpern is a managing partner at Four Entertainment Group, which owns a small group of popular neighborhood bars, such as aliveOne, Estelle's, Easy Bar and The Owl, the latter of which opened in 2011.

In 2011, Halpern told Time Out Chicago his goal is to open "neighborhood bars that feel like they’ve been there forever."

The building was previously owned by Daniel Nawcewicz, owner of King Chimney and Fireplace Co., who retired and sold his company to another chimney group in Lake Bluff, according to sources.

Halpern could not immediately be reached for comment. A spokesman for the group said it was too early to discuss details.
