PILSEN — A Pilsen sandwich shop focused on lunch eats is now offering up a breakfast option.
Starting at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Andorka's Sandwich Shop, 2110 S. Halsted St., will now offer a bagel breakfast sandwich in addition to their lunch sandwich varieties. The shop, featuring fresh sandwiches on house-baked bread made with locally sourced ingredients, opened in January.
The breakfast sandwich will feature a house-made bagel, scrambled egg, cheese and other toppings, said owner Matt Andorka. A bagel sandwich and coffee combo is $6.50.
"We're trying to get people to come in early and the neighborhood has been asking for a bagel sandwich," he said Tuesday morning.
Andorka, a first-time restaurateur, operates the "no frills" sandwich shop with his fiancée Julia Kepler. A graduate of Kendall College's culinary program, the 28-year-old Andorka has worked at Logan Square eatery Reno and Browntrout in North Center.
At lunch, the shop offers seven sandwich varieties for $6-$8.
Andorka's was funded with the help of an $8,000 Kickstarter campaign launched in August.
The Pilsen sandwich shop is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
