GOLD COAST — Dallas-based Velvet Taco will bring some Southern comfort to the Gold Coast Monday.

The self-described "urban taco shop" will open at 5 p.m. Monday at 1110 N. State St.

The menu from chef John Franke includes handmade corn tortillas, lime sorbet margaritas and slow-roasted rotisserie chicken and corn. Prices range from $3.50 for a fried paneer taco to $6.75 for an Ahi tuna poke lettuce wrap.

Nodding to Chicago, his third location, Franke is also offering local canned craft beers from Half Acre and Revolution, among other breweries, as well as a "Chicago Haute Dog" taco with pork belly, grain mustard, poppy seeds and house pickles.

The two-story, loft-style restaurant will feature an exposed kitchen and communal seating for 69 people. The restaurant will be open seven days a week, with hours from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Monday through Thursday; 11 a.m. to 4 a.m. on Friday; 9 a.m. to 4 a.m. Saturday; and 9 a.m. to 2 a.m. Sunday.
