WEST LOOP — City officials have shone hundreds of lights on a once-dim walkway near Ogilvie Transportation Center.

Ald. Brendan Reilly (42nd) said Tuesday that the Chicago Department of Transportation recently installed 212 new lights under the Lake, Randolph, and Washington Metra viaducts between Canal and Clinton streets.

Reilly "received numerous requests for improved lighting under these viaducts," he said in an e-mail to constituents. The lights were installed last month, he said.

The project budget was not disclosed, but Reilly said he was "pleased" to allocate funds from his aldermanic menu, or ward infrastructure budget.

Check out before-and-after photos of the viaducts in the accompanying slideshow.
