Robbers Striking in Uptown, Lincoln Square, Police Say

CHICAGO — Police are telling Uptown and Lincoln Square residents to be vigilant in the wake of four recent robberies.

The robberies occurred in December and January, police said in a community alert issued Saturday. Three incidents took place on a sidewalk, and the other at a CTA station. The robbers usually come from different directions and knock down or beat the victims before taking their property.

The incidents occurred in the:

• 1100 block of West Argyle Street on Dec. 6;

• 4900 block of North Broadway on Dec. 31;

• 4900 block of North Leavitt Street on Jan. 3;

• 1400 block of West Winona Street on Jan. 4

The robbers struck between the hours of 10 p.m. and 4 a.m., police said.

The suspects are described as two black males. One is between 15 and 23, 5-foot-3 to 5-foot-7, 140 to 160 pounds, with short hair and a dark complexion. The other is 24 to 27, 5-foot-11 to 6-foot-2, 190 to 220 pounds with short hair and a dark complexion.

The alert comes on the heels of similar robberies reported in the Town Hall District.
