One Dead, Nine Wounded in Citywide Violence Overnight

CHICAGO — A man is dead and nine people were wounded in shootings across the city overnight, including a 15-year-old boy shot in Lawndale Monday night.

Around 8 p.m., the 15-year-old was a passenger in a car in the 3900 block of West Lake Street when a man in another car opened fire, striking him in his leg, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The driver of the car took the boy to the 1500 block of South Karlov Avenue before the boy was taken to Mount Sinai. He was listed in stable condition, Sedevic said.

The most recent shooting occurred early Tuesday in Austin.

Around 5:05 a.m., the 18-year-old man was shot while standing in the 1100 block of North Monitor Avenue, said Sedevic.

The 18-year-old was listed in stable condition at Loyola Hospital after being shot in his abdomen, Sedevic said.

Around 2:20 a.m., a 23-year-old man was killed in a shootout in East Garfield Park.

Five teens were also wounded in a shooting in Englewood Monday night and a 19-year-old was hospitalized after a shooting in McKinley Park.

Around 6:20 p.m., a 28-year-old man was wounded in a shooting in Gresham.
