FOREST GLEN — A soul food restaurant with a slightly naughty name opened Monday in Forest Glen.

Ald. John Arena (45th) welcomed Mother Cluckers Kitchen, 5200 N. Elston Ave., to Forest Glen at a friends-and-family-only opening Saturday, proclaiming the chicken and ribs superb.

The restaurant at Elston, Foster and LaPorte avenues has been completely renovated since a taco restaurant closed several months ago.

The restaurant — which will allow diners to bring their own alcoholic beverages to accompany the menu full of chicken, ribs and pork — will offer lunch and dinner as well as carry out from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Eventually, the restaurant plans to offer breakfast at 6 a.m.

In addition to broasted chicken, the dinner menu features ribs, pulled pork, catfish, shrimp, steak and pork chops. Sides include collard greens and baked beans.

Desserts include bread pudding as well as peach and cherry cobbler.

For lunch, the restaurant will offer shrimp and catfish Po' Boy sandwiches as well as Paninis. A kids' menu is also available.
