IRVING PARK — When you think pub grub, safe to say organic maple syrup isn't the first thing that springs to mind.

That's just one of the items to be found Saturday at an artisan food market hosted by Lizard's Liquid Lounge, 3058 W. Irving Park Road.

Shop the array of handmade sweets, breads, preserves and more, 2-7 p.m. Pick up gifts for friends and family — and treats for yourself while you're at it.

Participating vendors include Albany Park's Breadman Baking Co., famous for its cinnamon swirl loaves; Katherine Anne Confections, whose truffles and caramels are well-known to sweets lovers; and Autumn Berry Inspired, which makes jams out of the fruit of an invasive species.

For those who'd like something more substantial to nosh on while browsing, Lizard's has a standing arrangement with neighboring Smalls smoke shack — order your BBQ at Smalls and they'll deliver it to the bar.

If a corner pub like Lizard's seems an improbable venue for an artisan food market, keep in mind that owner Liz Kavanaugh has also opened her doors for events clothing and book swaps.

"When I opened the bar, I knew they're not going to just walk in the door. I try all kinds of different things," Kavanaugh previously told DNAinfo Chicago. "[Customers] never know what they're going to walk into."

Rest assured, though there may not be a tater tot in sight, there's still plenty of beer on tap.
