CHICAGO — One of Lakeview's newest bars offers a wide selection of craft beers and small batch spirits to pair with seasonal meats and cheeses from local farms.

The Butcher's Tap, which will have its official grand opening Thursday, pays homage to the building's history as a butcher shop back in 1932, according to a news release.

“Our goal is to create a neighborhood establishment which complements the Southport Corridor, while getting back to the roots of the traditional Midwest butcher shop and local tavern it once was,” said Dana Ronk, a partner at Last Call Tavern Group partner, which acquired the space at 3553 N. Southport Ave.

The 3,800-square-foot space, which was previously the Wheel House, has been completely renovated over the last few months. Old furniture has been replaced by butcher block tables and chairs, which has expanded seating to more than 200 people, the release said.

The downstairs has new draft beer taps for their rotating selection of micro and macro beers and ciders. Also look out for the local spirits including: Letherbee Distillers, CH Distillery, Journeyman Distillery and other selections from the area.

Upstairs customers will find dart boards, a pool table, a large party room and a full bar equipped with 20 taps. And sports enthusiasts can catch the big game on one more than two dozen 50-60 inch televisions around the bar, the release said.

The Butcher’s Tap will be open for lunch and dinner seven days a week from 11 a.m. until 2 a.m. except Saturdays, when it closes at 3 a.m.
