PILSEN — Pilsen neighbors will once again gather together to light a holiday tree this year.

The neighborhood's third annual tree lighting ceremony will kick off at 6 p.m. Friday at Plaza Tenochtitlan at 18th Street and Blue Island Avenue. Festivities will continue until 9 p.m., according to the office of Ald. Danny Solis (25th).

The event will include a visit from Santa, performances by local school groups and a Mexican dance ensemble, plus free locally-made cookies, pastries and hot cocoa.

Those interested in sponsoring or volunteering at the event can call Solis' office at 733-523-4100 or e-mail ward25chicago@gmail.com.

The event is sponsored by Solis and the Greater Pilsen Economic Development Corp.
