NORTH CENTER — For the folks who opted not to join the pre-dawn shopping hordes at the malls this morning, we offer an alternative — the Late Late Craft Show.

Now in its third year at Mrs. Murphy & Sons Irish Bistro, 3905 N. Lincoln Ave., Friday's show features a variety of handmade goods from more than 30 local artisans.

Shop 5-11 p.m. for jewelry, knitware, prints, stationery, graphic T-shirts and a host of other one-of-a-kind gifts while enjoying live music by Carlton Coleman and James Ross.

Items that caught our eye include foot and heel helper from Mia's Wish, holiday greeting cards by Ms. Matilda Designs, groovy geometric jewelry from Marstinia Enamel Designs, and glassware from NP Glassworks made out of recycled beer, soda and liquor bottles.

The show is organized by Linnea Phillips, the designer behind Naystalgia Vintage Creations, and Adam Zollinger, who's been busy of late literally decorating all of Lincoln Square.

There's no cover charge for the craft show. The first 50 entrants will receive a complimentary grab bag of goodies.
