Here's a look at some neighborhood places serving up a side of comfort this week:

• First Lutheran Church of the Trinity's potluck Thanksgiving dinner starts at 5 p.m. Thursday at the church's community center, 643 W. 31st St. Guests are asked to contribute food, lend a hand with setting up or make a donation for the "God's Closet" clothes center.

• The St. Gabriel Catholic Church's Men of Madonna group is hosting a free turkey dinner from 1-4 p.m. Thursday at the school hall, 4500 S. Wallace Ave. The dinner includes all of the trimmings.

• Ald. George Cardenas (12th) is hosting a Thanksgiving day brunch at the McKinley Park field house, 2210 W. Pershing Road beginning at 11 a.m. The event, which features a spread of food and performances by local dance troupes, is open to senior citizens and residents of the 12th Ward, encompassing McKinley Park, Brighton Park and Little Village.
