HYDE PARK — A University of Chicago student was held up at gunpoint early Monday morning, according to police.

A man pulled a gun on the student at 2:45 a.m. on Ellis Avenue between 61st and 62nd streets and took the student’s computer, phone and bag before running south on Ellis, according to University of Chicago Police.

Police did not provide a description of the man.

The victim was not hurt, according to police.

University police are encouraging students to walk with a friend if they feel unsafe and to avoid using cell phones and other electronics on the street.

A spokesman for the University of Chicago Police said Monday that no arrests had been made in connection with an Oct. 11 robbery or four other armed robberies in Hyde Park that police believe to be the work of one man.
