HYDE PARK — University of Chicago police said Friday they are searching for a black man with a tattoo on his neck that is believed to be behind four armed robberies in the last week.

Police described the man as 18-21 years old, 5-foot-11 inches tall, with a light complexion and a tattoo on his neck.

Three University of Chicago students and a staff member described the same man, and said he pulled a handgun on them and took their wallets and phones.

Two students robbed at 12:15 a.m. on Halloween at 54th Street and Woodlawn Avenue told police the man jumped into a waiting car and took off down Woodlawn Avenue.

Another student robbed at 9:10 a.m. Wednesday at 54th Street and Greenwood Avenue told police he was robbed by two men, one believed to be the tattooed man, who claimed they had a gun and then took the student’s phone and backpack.
