SOUTH SHORE — An off-duty police officer and her daughter were shot during a domestic dispute in South Shore Tuesday night, police said.

At 10:05 p.m., a man shot the 49-year-old police officer in her face and neck in the 2200 block of East 68th Street. The officer was taken to Northwestern Hospital and was listed in critical condition, police said.

Her 21-year-old daughter was shot in her thigh and also taken to Northwester, where she was listed in stable condition.

According to the Tribune, the man responsible for the shooting is the daughter's boyfriend. After the shooting, the boyfriend fled with the couple's 2-year-old daughter. He was arrested a short time later, and the child did not appear to be harmed, the Tribune stated.

The officer has been with the Chicago Police Department for 24 years and is a recipient of 23 departmental awards, police said.

A person is being questioned by police in connection with the shooting, police said.

The incident is still under investigation, and anyone with information is asked to call police at 312-747-8380.
