CHICAGO — A second man has been charged with an armed robbery on the Orange Line in July that resulted in a woman being pistol whipped.

Robert Weaver, 47, of the 5000 block of South May Street, is charged with three counts of armed robbery, police said. Authorities say Weaver and Michael Taylor, 20, who was charged in July, boarded an inbound Orange Line train about 4:15 p.m. on July 14 and announced a robbery.

The robbery took place as the Loop-bound Orange Line train traveled between Halsted and Roosevelt, one of the line's longest stretches.

Two men took numerous items from passengers, and pistol whipped one woman, police said.

Taylor was apprehended in Rockford in July and charged with four counts of armed robbery. He also faced charges for an unrelated shooting in May.
