Man, 20, Charged in Orange Line Robbery

CHICAGO — One of the two Orange Line train robbers was charged Sunday.

Michael A. Taylor, 20, was taken into custody Friday, and was arrested in Rockford at 10:15 p.m. after being identified as one of the two people who robbed passengers on the Orange Line train July 16, police said.

Taylor and another robber held passengers at gunpoint and stole multiple items from them that afternoon. One woman was pistol whipped, police said.

Due in court Sunday, Taylor was charged with four counts of robbery armed with a firearm for the Orange Line robbery, and two counts of aggravated assault for connection in an unrelated shooting, according to police.

Police said the shooting occurred on May 12 in the 5700 block of West Ohio Street around 12:25 a.m.

Taylor was in an argument with three woman and a man when he pulled out a handgun and opened fire in their direction, but none of them were struck.
