WEST LOOP — A neighborhood group plans to meet with the operators of two proposed West Loop medical marijuana dispensaries Wednesday night.

The group, Neighbors of West Loop - 27th Ward Committee, will host the meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the meeting room at 1000 W. Washington Blvd. Residents should enter the building at 115 N. Carpenter St., according to the group.

The group will meet with two operators Wednesday. Green Thumb Industries co-founder Ben Kovler, an investor, wants to open The Clinic West Loop at 955 W. Lake St. In the Fulton Market district, trucking executive and strip club owner Perry Mandera plans to open Custom Strains at 1105 W. Fulton St.

The Lake Street proposal earned a special-use permit late last month before the city's Zoning Board of Appeals. The city board is slated to consider the Fulton dispensary's special-use permit Nov. 21.

After the Lake Street dispensary cleared city zoning, owners were waiting for the state to approve or deny their application to operate it. Kovler said he expected to hear back from the state by December, he said last month.

The state plans to grant 60 dispensary licenses, 13 of which will be located in Chicago.
