WEST LOOP — Aldermanic challenger Gabe Beukinga will host an event Sunday to meet neighbors in the West Loop.
Beukinga, running for 27th Ward alderman, will meet with residents from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at 1000 W. Washington Blvd. Beukinga plans to talk about his vision for the West Loop and answer questions.

Beukinga is senior vice president at SomerCor 504, a development company that offers Small Business Administration loans to area companies. He is running for the seat against incumbent Ald. Walter Burnett Jr. (27th), who was first elected in 1995.
The 27th Ward map has been redrawn to include portions of the Illinois Medical District and Goose Island in addition to encompassing the Near West Side, Cabrini Green and parts of West Town, Old Town, River West, Humboldt Park and East Garfield Park.
The ward map officially takes effect in spring 2015. The aldermanic election is Feb. 24.
