CHICAGO — Two men were found dead on separate blocks in Lawndale Wednesday night, police say.

Around 10:30 p.m., a 53-year-old man was found shot in the chest in the 700 block of South Springfield Avenue, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Sedevic said.

He was identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office as Larry Lee. The Medical Examiner's Office said he was 52, and died of a gunshot wound to the back.

About 20 minutes later, officers discovered a 37-year-old man face down in a pool of his own blood inside a vacant building in the 4300 block of West Lexington Street, Sedevic said.

He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Further details were not immediately available.
