HYDE PARK — The legendary jazz club Hot House will be revived at the Promontory for the three-day Old and New Dreams Festival starting Oct. 17.

The new Hyde Park venue at 5311 S. Lake Park Ave. will host three days of concerts from the organizers of the cultural center started in Wicker Park in 1987 and closed in 2007.

The festival opens with a performance by Lakha Khan, a master of the Indian sarangi, joined by renowned percussionist Hamid Drake and the David Murray Trio.

The Promontory will host free community programs with documentary screenings, DJs and oral history projects from noon to 3 p.m. on Oct. 18.

Saxophonist Pharaoh Sanders and the Chicago Underground Duo will lead the evening performance, which also features the Ari Brown Quintet and a dance tribute to Don Cherry by members of the Muntu Dance Theatre.

The festival wraps up in the afternoon on Oct. 19 with a 2 p.m. performance by European trio Oliver’s Cinema.

Tickets vary in price and a festival pass for all performances is $75. Tickets are available at promontorychicago.com.
