CHICAGO — Two teens, a 16-year-old boy and girl, are charged with murdering a man near police headquarters last month.

The teens fatally shot Walter Neely, 25, about 11:35 p.m. on Aug. 15 in the 3500 block of South Indiana Avenue, a block from Chicago Police headquarters, police said.

They were identified as Kenneth Brown, of the 3800 block of South Michigan Avenue, and Dreyana Grooms, of the 2700 block of South Dearborn Street. The Tribune reported Brown was ordered held without bail, while Grooms was held on $500,000 bail.

Brown was identified as the person who shot Neely in the abdomen. Both teens are charged as adults, police said. They appeared in court Saturday.

Both are charged with first-degree murder.
