CHICAGO — A restaurant security guard shot and killed a man after he pulled a knife on him in Albany Park overnight, police said.

About 3:55 a.m., a 47-year-old security guard asked an intoxicated man to leave his restaurant in the 4500 block of North Kedzie Avenue, according to Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police Department spokesman.

The intoxicated man returned with a knife and attacked the security guard, who then drew his gun shot him, Estrada said.

The man was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 5:52 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

Officials there identified him as 36-year-old Juan Carlos Villalobos Avila.
