LOGAN SQUARE — The Cozy Corner Restaurant and Pancake House will reopen its popular Logan Square location Wednesday.

The 37-year-old diner at 2294 N. Milwaukee Ave. closed in January but will open with additional space and seating Sept. 3, according to store managers at Cozy Corner’s Diversey Avenue location.

Plans to enlarge the Logan Square diner by a third — an addition of 20 seats — were announced in December shortly before its next door neighbor, Milwaukee and California Produce, closed.

Cozy Corner manager Terri Rivera said last year that the expansion was much needed at the popular diner, located directly off the California Blue Line station.

"There's times we have to turn people away because we're so busy," said Rivera, 60, who has worked at the restaurant on and off since it opened in 1977.

The closure stretched more than its initial estimation of four to six weeks, but the rehab boasts new signage and a redone interior in addition to the expansion. Several neighborhood residents stopped by to peek inside and inquire about the reopening Tuesday afternoon.
