RIVER NORTH — RPM Steak, the meat-focused sister restaurant of RPM Italian, will open for its first dinner service at 4 p.m. Tuesday.

The Lettuce Entertain You project is backed in part by celebrity couple Giuliana and Bill Rancic, both media personalities who live part of the time in Chicago. Another partner in the project is the restaurant's head chef, Doug Psaltis.

The menu features more than a dozen cuts of steak from around the globe, cooked over hardwood, coal or in a high-temperature broiler, Psaltis said in a news release.

"Each cut of steak is unique," he said. "I wanted to respect that by using the cooking methods that will bring out its special quality."

True to its chic steakhouse vibe, menu offerings are pricey: a 10-ounce Slagel club steak is on the lower end at $38, with the most expensive steak, a 42-ounce Tomahawk, priced at $155. Seafood ranges from $27 to $62 for Maine lobster. Appetizers, including a seared foie gras, are priced between $10 and $20.

A cold bar offers West Coast oysters, prawns and lobster. Another extravagance on the menu is the "14-carat chocolate cake," a chocolate-layer cake topped with edible gold leaf.

The 8,500-square-foot restaurant seats 350, and was designed with a sunken dining room to evoke a "classic steakhouse architecture with modern finishes," Lettuce Entertain You's Jerrod Melman, another partner in RPM Steak, said in a news release.

Located at 66 W. Kinzie St., the restaurant is open daily at 4 p.m. for dinner, with plans to launch a lunch service in the coming months.
