ROGERS PARK — The Morse Avenue Chase branch will close on Sept. 13, according to Chase.com and a notice posted on the building.

The bank, at 1425 W. Morse Ave., had been home to Jewel 20 years ago, before the grocer left. Then, in 2004, Family Dollar signed a lease to occupy half of the building, along with Washington Mutual Bank, Dunkin' Donuts and a hair studio, according to a lease agreement filed with the Cook County Recorder of Deeds.

JPMorgan Chase took over Washington Mutual after it collapsed in 2008.

The Chase branch is located in one of the neighborhood's biggest business districts.

George Novogroder, the owner of the building, said he was seeking another bank to take Chase's place, but no prospective tenants have come forward.

He said if other banks aren't interested then he would look for other businesses to fill the space.

Last summer, Chase built a new branch building in place of J.J. Peppers on Ridge Avenue.
