LAKEVIEW — Popular running store Fleet Feet announced Thursday plans to open a fourth Chicago location later this year in Lakeview.

"Good news travels fast — and so does Fleet Feet Sports Chicago," owner and CEO David Zimmer said in an email Thursday. "We're already getting a really positive response on social media about this, and the ink is barely dry on the lease!"

The store at 3359 N. Southport Ave. is slated to open in late fall or early winter. The building formerly housed a Starbucks that moved across the street.

Zimmer said he chose the location because Southport Avenue is surrounded by "active health-conscious residents," easily accessible running routes and several entertainment venues.

"We pride ourselves in being more than just a place of commerce," Zimmer wrote. "We like to become woven into the community through our extensive range of educational/training programs, weekly free fun runs, fund raising and social events."

Fleet Feet already has three Chicago locations in Lincoln Square, Old Town and the South Loop. There's also a suburban shop in Elmhurst.
