BRIDGEPORT — The neighborhood's newest restaurant is open for business.

Wingstop, located at 3032 S. Halsted St. in the Park View Plaza, opened Wednesday.

Billed as the “wing experts," Wingstop's menu features classic and boneless wings that are fried and tossed in a choice of 10 sauces and rubs, including original hot, mild, atomic, Cajun, teriyaki, lemon pepper, Hawaiian, garlic parmesan, hickory smoked BBQ and Louisiana rub.

In addition to the wing offerings, Wingstop serves up sides of seasoned French fries, baked beans, cole slaw and potato salad.

The Bridgeport location includes seating for about 25 diners, plus a stand-up counter. It's open 11 a.m.-midnight daily. Carry-out is available by calling 312-374-1338 or ordering online at the restaurant's official website.

If you're keeping score, the Wingstop debut makes two places specializing in chicken wings within a four-block stretch of Halsted Street.

Justin Bobin, a manager at Buffalo Wings & Rings, 3434 S. Halsted St., said he welcomes the competition.

"I think the comparison is you've got Phil's Pizza and Little Caesar's. We're more like the Phil's Pizza of wings. They're more like fast food," he said. "But whatever else we can get here that's quality, I think it's good for the neighborhood. ... I will let the fans choose."
