GOLD COAST — Belgian bakery-restaurant hybrid Le Pain Quotidien will open a Gold Coast location at 10 E. Delaware Place Tuesday, a week later than the initially scheduled opening.

It's the third Le Pain Quotidien location to open in Chicago this year, preceded by a West Loop bakery at 135 N. Clinton St. that opened in May and a Lincoln Park outpost that opened in early June.

Originally started in Brussels in 1990, the company's headquarters is now in New York. Around 200 Le Pain Quotidien restaurants are open in 17 countries, including franchises.

The Gold Coast location is the 73rd bakery and restaurant in the U.S.

“Ever since we opened our first bakery in Brussels, breaking bread with friends and neighbors has been the foundation of Le Pain Quotidien,” Vincent Herbert, CEO of Le Pain Quotidien, said.

“We are delighted to be part of the wonderful community of Chicago and look forward to sharing our daily bread with our new neighbors.”

The bakery serves breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week and sells many of its more popular items wholesale.

Top sellers include baguettes and walnut bread made with ancient grains, organic jams and chocolate spreads.
