EDGEWATER — Cookies and Carnitas, the pork and sweets joint on North Broadway, opened its cafe in an adjacent storefront.
Owner Brad Newman had planned to open the cafe in December, when the restaurant opened at 5757 North Broadway. But the timing didn't work out, he said.
"It takes a minute when you're doing everything yourself," he said Wednesday.
The new cafe will serve coffee from a rotation of Chicago roasters, including Bow Truss and Dark Matter.
The cafe is open from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Saturday and is closed Sundays.
