WICKER PARK — Umami Burger, a California-based chain known for its "savory fifth taste," is making its entry into Wicker Park. But first, it needs some good people to staff the eatery.

" we are hiring! Get over to the Westin 320 N Dearborn St 15th to 18th! (see flyer) the restaurant tweeted on Sunday.

The four-day hiring fair is seeking to fill several positions at Umami's planned Wicker Park location, 1480 N. Milwaukee Ave., including general and assistant manager, chef, busboy, hosts, and line and prep cooks.

The job fair will be held at the Westin River North, 320 N. Dearborn St., from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday and from 10 a.m. to 8 pm. on Thursday.

Just south of the Milwaukee and Honore intersection, the Wicker Park Umami Burger will prepare burgers made with a briney sauce that includes soy, anchovies and vinegar that, according to one critic, "stuff you and make you want more."

Umami Burger's Wicker Park entry is part of the chain's national expansion, according to a press release. The company plans to add several more stores to Chicago's lineup, in addition its 20 outlets in New York, California and Florida.

Umami's new location was once home to a Burger King, which closed several years ago and was demolished. The Burger King was replaced with three storefronts from 1480-84 N. Milwaukee Ave. owned by Steve Lipe and NYC-based Janel Management.

As for an opening date, an Umami spokesman Brian Rosman said the company isn't there yet.

"We have not set our opening date yet but a hiring fair usually means we’re close," Rosman said.

Umami burger will be next to Max's Wine Bar, a Houston-based restaurant that offers gourmet comfort food such as fried chicken. Max's Wine Dive opened last month at 1482 N. Milwaukee Ave.

Native Foods Cafe at 1484 N. Milwaukee Ave, opened in 2011.
