UPTOWN — The Buena Park Neighbors Association is holding a family-friendly festival in July featuring food trucks, music, art classes, architectural tours and more.

From noon-5 p.m. July 20 the block club plans to invite people to the southeast slice of Uptown between Montrose Avenue and Irving Park Road known as Buena Park for the second annual Buena Park Open Day festival.

The Buena Park Neighbors website gives a preview of the festival.

The event will feature food, including grub from a handful of food trucks slated to set up shop at the festival.

There will be music performances throughout the day at Buena Circle park, 1049 W. Buena Ave., and activities for dogs at the nearby Challenger Dog Park. Kids can enjoy various activities at Buena Circle Park including face painting and an inflated "bounce house" to frolic in.

The Chicago Architecture Foundation is giving sidewalk tours of area houses built by renowned Prairie School-style architect George W. Maher in the Hutchinson Street Historic District in the 600-900 blocks of Hutchinson.

The American Islamic College, 640 W. Irving Park Road, and St. Mary of the Lake church, 4200 N. Sheridan Road, plan to give tours of the places of worship.

An instructor at the American Islamic College is giving classes on ebru, the Turkish art of creating patterns in oily water and transferring them to paper. There will also be an art expo at 4104 N. Broadway.

The festival will include biking tours of the neighborhood as well as tours of area gardens.

The Buena Park Neighbors website said a free trolley service will take attendees throughout the attractions.

Organizers are asking for a suggested donation of $5.
