Cafe Creme Opening in Bucktown

By Josh McGhee | June 13, 2014 10:25am

BUCKTOWN — A new French cafe offering bakery goods, brunch items and coffee opened in Bucktown Friday.

Cafe Creme, 1721 N. Damen Ave., is the newest concept from LM Restaurant Group offering breakfast and lunch items with the option to dine in daily from 7 a.m.-3 p.m. After 3 p.m. the cafe will offer Julius Meinl Coffee to go along with various retail items, General Manager Maura Davis said while prepping the store for its opening day early friday.

The fresh bread and pastries baked daily by the chef in the Cafe Creme kitchen is what sets the new brunch spot apart, Davis said while offering a look at the variety of macaroons the restaurant will offer including chocolate, chocolate coconut, hazelnut, orange hazelnut, mexican, passion fruit, lemon, mango, lavender, pistachio, rose orange blossom and salted caramel.

All food left over at the end of the day will be donated to a local food depository, Davis said.

The cafe, which took over the former home of Grass Fed, will also offer free WiFi to allow customers to work from the cafe during their dining hours. It will also be opening its patio later this summer, she said.

Cafe Creme is also offering a free cup of coffee with the purchase of a la carte item through the end of June to help celebrate its grand opening.
