ANDERSONVILLE — An upscale farm-to-table Mexican restaurant named Cantina De La Granja is opening in Andersonville where T's Bar resided before closing last year.

Chef Diana Davila is partnering with the owners of SoFo Tap and Crew Bar and Grill in Uptown to open the much-anticipated restaurant.

The Eater Chicago blog broke the news Thursday afternoon, reporting that the restaurant would open near the end of the year. Davila and the ownership group could not be reached for comment Thursday afternoon, but the chef's spokeswoman confirmed the details of the Eater report.

Davila is previewing the Cantina De La Granja concept via a roaming dinner series named Granja Urbana.

The dinners will be held once a month from June to October, according to a press release. Davila plans to use ingredients from farms in the Chicago area and Midwest which she's also considering using for the restaurant.

The chef has spent a lot of time traveling across Mexico and "through her personal experiences and search for creative inspiration, she’ll be reinventing authentic Mexican food through the use of seasonal ingredients and modern techniques," the release said.

“I’m excited to have the opportunity to engage people in my culinary creative process and have them be a part of creating a restaurant” Davila said in a statement. “With this series, we’ll be able to bring people together around a table for a good cause while we re-invent Mexican cuisine together.”
