CHICAGO — A South Side man was charged with two felonies after allegedly attempting to sexually assault a woman near a Blue Line station this week.

Leverne Burnett, 21, was charged with one count of aggravated battery in a public place and one count of attempted criminal sexual assault, police said.

The attack happened about 12:18 a.m. Tuesday, in the 900 block of West Van Buren Street, police said.

A19-year-old woman was riding a Blue Line train that originated at the Lake Street transfer station. When she got off the train, the man tried to sexually assault her, but she was able to fight him off and get away.
